AZ Road/Track Racer, Vintage Enthusiast/Collector

Hello!

My name is Tyler, full-time Art Student at Arizona State, yes the thread title is correct- 22 years old, and I love reading up on vintage road bikes/ and have a few models I am proud to say I own. Use to race road, regionally and nationally representing ASU, and a local Scottsdale club thereafter. Helping to pay off my student loans, I got into the vintage side of cycling; an area my fathers side of the family has always been involved in.

Oddly enough, the forums on here are the only place Ive seen the discussions on "Mike Appel". My dad has two of them, one of which was actually stolen sadly- 1996 19" Purple Hardtail Frame, Full XTR... so if you see that unique ride, hit me up! Another, 1999 Special Custom Road Frame with Thermacrom Columbus tubing, full DA.

As far as bikes go, Im more into track, but recently find myself reading about 60s to early 90s rides and components. As far as the bike collection goes, aside from the Appel's, here they are....

1979 Mark Koepke Custom Track 62cm, nervex lugged, good friend of Appel's, his race frame for the Kenosha drome I repainted pearl white, cinelli bullhorn, salsa SUL stem, fizik arione, formula 50 hubs laced to mavic hoops, sugino 75 cranks, sugino 75 bb, 48-16 gearing

1990 Merckx 7-Eleven, Dad is original owner, TSX tubing, bought at gita in NC, bike is MINT!

1976 Raleigh Competition- Dad is original owner, metallic blue, 60cm

1977 Motobecane Grand Jubilee, All original Campagnolo Record, 63cm, My commuter in College, pretty scary not knowing its history then compared to now...

1985 Cannondale Frameset, Mint, got at a garage sale, buildin up soon- serial number CC00827

I'm guessing you've already found the Classic & Vintage forum, haven't you?

I too have a Motobecane Grand Jubile, but it did not come equipped with all Campy . I still don't know what year it is, either . It is a lovely mixte, however!

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !
