hi from western mass (holyoke)

hey there. im mark and i'm in Western mass. i'll probably do more browsing and lurking here than posting, but it looks like theres plenty of info to keep me busy.

i commute to work on a team Fuji road bike with a mix of shimano 600 and shim 105 comps. i inherited this bike from my girlfriends dad, Gus, who passed away about 10 years ago. he died of a heart attack on this very bike, while taking a rest after a long ride. needless to say i have taken steps to make it my own. i was a little in awe when a few weeks ago i finally straightened the handlebars, which must have been knocked over a bit when he fell. anyway i'm continuing what he started. its a great bike, probably 15 years old, but it rides like butter. thanks for taking care of it for me Gus.

mountain bike is a mid-level Giant Iguana, 2003 model, in yellow. love yellow bikes. all stock parts are still on the bike except the tires.

i'm slowly teaching myself the fine art of bike repair on my own bikes as well as on my girlfriend's old diamond back (again, at least 12 years old) i hope to overhaul all three of our various bikes by next spring, if not sooner.

take care yall, and stay safe, mark

Hi Mark, if you post a photo of the Fuji in Classic & Vintage, someone can probably identify the year for you. An interesting story about how the bike came to be yours. At least Gus died doing something he enjoyed.

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

Thanks you Ms. Hill. I WILL post a pic on that forum. it'd be nice to know the history of the bike pre-Gus. I think it will enhance the ride!

best, mark
