I dont think there are many mountains in Norfolk VA, so you should look for a light bike without any suspension. If you want to hop up and down curbs you will need tires 35 or 38 mm wide. Go to a bike shop to find out what size you need and what features to look for. Even if you buy on Craigslist you will need a friendly bike shop for getting it adjusted and for buying accessories. Good luck!

Hi Aaron, you could ask in the Clydesdales/Athenas forum. Those folks are truly the experts on bikes for bigger riders.

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

How does this bike sound?

This is a great mountain bike that has had minimal use over the past few years. I just don't really have anywhere to store her, I've always kept her inside and would rather sell than lock her up outside and watch the rust form. Anyway, it has Shimano LX components (trigger shifters, gears, etc.), 26" frame I think, the front suspension is a Manitou Magnum. I have a Terry Fly seat on here which I bought for about $100. I can also throw in a helmet if you need one. Feel to make realistic offers and ask any questions you may have

Its a Giant Iguana

I think the KHS 500 Alite from 2007 is great! It has disc brakes which are great at stopping in the rain. Good quality cross country bike. Check out KHSbicycles.com the 2008 model is a nicer color than mine.
