Hey from North Carolina

Hey from NC - (Greensboro area)
I'm not new to bike riding (actually, I'm almost 60 so I'm not new to much of ANYTHING). My wife and I started riding road bikes about 8 years ago. We try to ride 5 days a week (weather permitting), usually riding 10 to 15 miles a day. We used to ride 20 - 25 per day, but I think older age may be creeping up on us. (I've noticed that some of the hills that we used to climb with ease have become a bit steeper lately -- probably due to global warming.) We don't really do group rides or competitions - we just ride for the exercise and fun of it. I wouldn't mind doing a group ride, but it seems the timing is always off with our schedule.

That's about it. I'm looking for some good tips and bike stories to share, etc.

Hi Gary, I am going to remember the line about the hills getting steeper due to global warming :roflmao2: .

As you can see from my username, I am used to hills! I like to think they are good for me...

So, what bike are you riding?

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions :) !

Well, they attribute just about everything else to global warming - why not steeper hills? In fact, I think that corn on my right foot is probably from global warming, too!

I ride an entry level Iron Horse (Cyclone) with a Sora group that I bought about 6 or 7 years ago. I've been thinking of buying a new bike - don't know why - the only person I ride with is my wife and I have no problem keeping up with her on her $2500 Trek. In fact, I tease her that she could have bought 5 of my bikes for what she spent on hers. I guess if I ever start group riding I'll have to get serious with a better bike. We ride 10 to 15 miles a day, usually avg about 15 to 16 mph. So, for now, the ole Iron Horse will do just fine.

Well, if she has a $2500 Trek, that means that you should be getting the Madone, correct?

 ...

As my four year old grandson would say, "Yea, wite"!! (He has trouble with his R's)

Maybe a Scattante R560 if I'm REALLY lucky.
