Another New New Yorker

My first bike was black with purple splatters, and was stolen from me on Christmas morning when I was 11. Much, much later I rode a beautiful black Schwinn World Tour ($40, outdoor supply store), lost when Mom couldn't pay the bills on her storage unit. Traded a six pack for a junker MTB, also stolen, as was my latest baby, a blue Schwinn traveler conversion (pic - just after acquisition).

Now, foot-bound once again, and in the market for another single-speed steed. Found an old Dawes frame on the sidewalk yesterday, but she's no good (rear dropouts), and the MKTT I just fell in love with doesn't exist in my size. Leaning back towards the orange MotoMess, but have a hard time stomaching the month-long shipping wait. Existential crisis.

New Yorker by way of Portland, OR, I teach World History to some wonderful South Bronx high schoolers, and do a little cooking on the side. Glad to have found such a wonderful resource in all of you and this forum, and looking forward to getting to know the community as I search for my new ride and a far, far more reliable lock.

All good things,
Kimron
