Hello bikers! I just bought my first new bike since I was 16, and I'm excited about it. I mostly ride greenways and parks. Have also done the Virginia Creeper Trail near Abingdon, VA. Would like to commute to work, but 19 miles one way is a distance, and this is not a bike-friendly town generally. Still, our downtown and university campus are swarming with bikes, and I look forward to joining them. I'm also looking for advice about street riding, safety gear, etc. Oh--has anybody ridden the Natchez Trace? My brother and I may tackle that too.

welcome aboard! I haven't done the entire trace but I've spent a lot of time on the last bit of it. Hoping to do the while thing in fall '09 or spring 2010.

Dark bronze color, black seat with brass studs. It looks different, which suits me. Kind of a cool nerd bike?
Gavush: My brother and I want to ride the Trace. I've driven on parts of it, but never biked it. How's the campground situation? My Googling shows no showers in NPS campgrounds.
Thanks for the welcome East Hill. Where do you ride? I've been trying to meet up with HandsomeRyan for a critical mass ride downtown. I have a neighbor who does longer road rides, but time is the problem for me.

Looks like a 'can-do-anything' bike--I like the saddles with brass studs!
I ride in the South Puget Sound area of Washington State. About the only time I get to meet members is when the organised rides take place. It's always cool to meet other members face to face, though.

I'm not sure - I haven't gotten that far yet. I did pick up the book "cycling the natchez trace" and have been poking through it though. A good place to check out for natchez touring info is crazyguyonabike.com
