Oregon Coast Newbie

I've often come the the BikeForum in the past few months, as the result of various Google researching. So today I figured I ought to formally register, in case some day I have something to ask (that hasn't been asked) or contribute.

I've lived on the Oregon coast for over 30 years; (I'm in my late '50s). I started riding consistently in the late 80's/early 90's. My favorite activity was doing 80-90 mile "sight-seeing" day rides, so I trained mostly for those; I was doing probably ~5000 miles every year. Then, about 10 years ago, I had to stop for health reasons. That's been corrected, but in the meantime, I changed careers, and time is now the great obstacle. My focus now is just to get out every other day or so for a short cardio workout. I figure I'll start with that base, and see where I go from there.

My bikes are all old: My first and favorite is a ~'87 Bridgestone T500 (the frame's repainted, and every part --except the Sakae cranks and Diacompe brakes-- has been replaced); a '94 Cannondale R500 --too stiff for comfort; a '70ish Peugeot tandem --a real noodle and a gas to ride, but unfortunately in a state of disrepair; and most recently a '78 Raleigh T14 touring bike, which I acquired to use as my "city bike" in Portland.

BridgeRider,

I'm here to officially greet you, and invite you to the Classic & Vintage forum. I think you'll find that to be one of your favorite forums (it is mine as well). Be prepared to have people ask for pictures of your neat older bikes.

Take care, and I'll keep my eyes open over there for you,

Z

Thanks for the welcomes, USAZorro and East Hill. I'll get some photos as soon as I can get it set up with my wife (she's the photographer, not me).
