Hey all, A friend of mine was shipping out of the city and needed to sell his bike. Silly me, I did him the favor of buying it pretty much sight-unseen because I'd like to start getting my legs in shape for this coming ski season. I got it tuned up at b's and the chain broke a few days later. The wheels wouldn't stay true and the rubber looked sickly. So hunting around brooklyn I found a decent set at affinity and it looks like I've got a good bike for commuting. All in so far at a smidge over $400 for a trek 614, including parts, labor and purchase. I'm not sure I would have gone this way had I seen how difficult it was to find decent 27" rims.

Looking forward to getting hooked on this whole bicycling 'fad'.

Hello canonizer, you will enjoy the ride, and you may find it even more appealing than skiing .

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

EH, thanks for the welcome. I don't know about more than skiing but it's a great way to get around the city. I was enjoying 57th street so much I overshot the turn I needed to make.
