Thanks East Hill, my pleasure being part of this forum. Cycling was my childhood passion and it started with BMX bikes until I outgrown them to MTBs and now road bikes considering the roads of Kalinga are now slowly being paved. Too sad I'm the only one enjoying the ups and downs of the mountains because people here have no access for performance bikes (especially accessories and parts) though ordinary and some MTBs are common here. I'm considering putting up a bicycle orgnization here or maybe even a bicycle specialty shop but I guess people here are not yet ready to be serious in cycling.

Yes, it could take some time for people to get seriously interested in road cycling. MTBs, on the other hand, would be very popular. Even if fuel is available, I imagine that petrol/gasoline is rather expensive for most people to afford. And, it's far healthier to stick with bicycles than to switch to cars.

I was there in 1999 and didn't see you Spent six months, but only noticed a couple of days when it seemed the traffic or the heat/humidty would have let me survive more than a few km. I ran instead. Keep it up. I was tempted to go back a couple of years ago to do the ride up to Baguio - a real test.

I wish you could come visit again Steve, we can plan a 3 day road trip on these mountains... I just started cycling seriously a year ago and the good news is, I can arrange a "car aid" at our dispose , a cycling day can mean a 12-hour day with 2+hour break (spread through out, 6am-6pm), use the car to find a decent place to eat, sleep and recover, then back on the spot the next day right where we stopped the previous day. This way we can cover 200km more or less a day and even have ample time for sightseeing from Bulanao, Tabuk to Baguio City.
