Greetings from Ann Arbor, MI

Hello All,

My name is Chaad, and I'm a 38 year old veteran cyclist who's just today discovered BikeForums. Cool place.

Like many, I suppose, I was in crisis when I got here. I munged-up a bottom bracket cup and needed advice. I posted in Bike Mechanics (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...90#post7334190) and got a helpful reply within minutes. Awesome!

Anyway, I don't ride as much as I used to, and so most of my riding these days is commuting and road rides, although I get on the trail a couple of times a year. I used to MTB race, and have ridden the fast group road rides, but mostly I ride alone.

I've been fascinated with bikes since I was a young kid, and have ridden nearly without interruption since I was 14. When I was 15, I got hit by a car and smashed up my leg pretty good--bone sticking out and everything!--but they screwed it all back together and it got me going again just fine. It was a stupid bike accident, one of those careless maneuvers by a cocksure teenager. I learned my lesson though and have been [KNOCKONWOOD]accident free ever since[/KNOCKONWOOD].

I'm married and have a two year old daughter, and have a wine importing and distributing business (www.uswineimports.com).

I'm glad to be on the boards, and plan to be a regular participant and contributor.

Merry cycling!

Hi and welcome xgi here aka marty from oscoda . I'm located in the ne side of the state right on the shore of lake huron. Like you I bike alone. Not much biking up here anyway. Wife and I bike a lot around michigan on trails. Last month we bike to the bridge from indian river 77 miles round trip:thumb:

Good luck and welcome......x

Good to hear you are commuting by bike. Welcome.

Hello Chaad, you will be a great addition to some of our threads involving the proper wine to drink with what food!

Do you have photos of any of your bikes, by the way?

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

I don't have any proper pics of my bikes, just these crummy cell phone pics that I took in early spring last year. No pics of the Mountain Cycle at all....I've gotta take some proper glamour shots!

East Hill-- I'm glad to hear there are some foodie/wino/cyclists around! Maybe I'll start a thread to pull some of 'em out and see who's who!

My commuter/general purpose sled, the Novara Buzz:

Again, the Buzz suited up for baby hauling:

For reeling in the tarmac ribbon, a Lemond Buenos Aires:

My dirt bike, a DeKerf Team with their original, "tri-moose" 1pc Ti bar/stem:

I lamp and chill on this, an old Schwinn Collegiate 5spd:

The latest addition, which gets me a pass to hang out and watch the incredibly fearless and talented kids at the local dirt jumping park, the Mountain Cycle Rumble. Not mine exactly, but right color:

Road Fan 09-01-08 08:22 AM

Hi, Chaadster, I'm in Ann Arbor, too, on the Old West Side. Welcome!

I've been on BF for a few years, and a returning cyclist for 5 years now. My wife and I like to ride out the path to Chelsea and back, and up near Leland and Interlochen. I ride a Masi, a Mondonico, a Woodrup and a Trek, and she rides a Breezer and a Cannondale hybrid.

I'm an electonics engineer in the auto industry, and Mrs Road Fan teaches choral music near Ann Arbor.

PM me if you'd like to go out riding sometime, ok, or just want to talk bikes.

I also like wine. Chateau de Cruzeau is one of my favorites.

Hey Road Fan, thanks for the invite! I'm working on getting my fitness back up to an acceptable level, but yeah, I'd love to take a spin. I'll shoot you a PM soon.

Here's a pic I just took of my Mountain Cycle:
