Hi there, Does anybody read all these intros?
I am getting back into road biking and found your site and am prepared to lurk for a while to re-acquaint myself with the sport and all the new gear.
Thanks in advance for all the info! Whit |

Welcome!
Like Raiyn said, participate! Post and give us the details about yourself, and if you ever have questions, by all means, do post. Koffee |
hey! thanks for the response!
I have already read a bunch of Koffee's posts, and thank you very much, they are very interesting.
I have been a pretty faithful mountain biker here in Marin (actually it is a pre-requisite for living in Marin, you have to mountain bike) and doing a lot of motorcycle riding. I just got my Ducati 748 track-prepped, all carbon and kevlar, forged magnesium wheels, yadda, yadda, yadda, and I had a slight altercation with a deer up here in the hills. It was actually a pretty low speed accident, but I ruptured my spleen, collected about 4 pints of blood in my stomach, and just barely made it to the emergency room in time to do any good. Well, needless to say, the wife was a little displeased, especially since we have an insanely hyperactive two year old. Upshot is, 30 years of riding/racing motorcycles is over, and I am left with a big hole in my life which really needs two wheels and the sensation of speed to overcome. Voila! Return to roadbiking. Haven't done it since I was a kid and I was riding a Nishiki (are they still around? has anybody even heard of them?) Picked up a gorgeous Trek 5500 frame from a guy who made a slight sizing mistake and now am starting to put together the components to get it out on the road. I know it's a lot more bike than an aging poser really needs, but God is it Pretty and Light and Carbon FIber! And I'm really partial to carbon fiber. And I really just don't give a ---- other people think. I like it. So thanks for asking! and I will happily participate if I can add anything of value. Whit Oh! and I am happy to see a Buckaroo fan up there, I used to use the name John Bigboute on an old biking board. Loved that movie... |
Well now! That's much better!
:D We'll be seeing you in the mountain biking forums soon, I hope! Take care, Koffee |
I read them! Welcome to Bikeforums!
|
And the Road cycling forum, when you get that lovely Treck assembled ... Carbon is the Buis....
|
I read 'em too... Don't always say hello, but since you asked.... HELLO! :)
|
The only thing that matters is Living to Ride and Riding to Live. everything else falls into place.
|
Welcome Lynx, keep reading, asking questions or just shooting the breeze, bunch of great guys and gals here...
