Hello from Alexandria Virginia

Hello List --

I used to live and work in downtown Washington DC where I would bike to and from work every day. Now, I've moved to the 'burbs, and I plan to keep biking. So, my dependence and relationship with my bicycle is growing stronger every day! I plan to start doing my own bike maintenance, so I'm sure I will need some assistance from the veterans out there. Thanks.

Burck

Welcome. I commuted on bike between Prince Georges County and Alexandria for years. It just makes so much more sense to go by bike up there.

I had a Specialized mountain bike which was stolen a couple of weeks ago at the King Street metro stop. The good news is now I have an excuse to get a road bike. So, I just bought a 2009 Cannondale CX9 for my commute. I also bought a rusty, old mountain bike (1995 Diamondback Sorrento) that I am resurrecting to take to and from the metro stop when I need to. The mountainbike is my "project bike." I just replaced the rear derailleur, added some links into the chain, and replaced the back brakes. It's functional now, but needs some tuning.
