Once a man, twice a boy....

Greetings all...my name is carl, I live in La Mesa, CA (east of San Diego) and I am going on 65 years old. I have cycled most of my life and for about 25 years I biked to work. Retirement re-ignited my enjoyment of going off-road, especially after discovering fully suspended ATB's and then I dusted off my old Trek 1400 road bike. Lately I decided to join a masters riding group to train smarter to minimize those too long periods of recovering from trying to make my body do what my memory recalls. I ride single track about 25 miles a week (on a Canadian "Rocky Mountain" Evolution) with some similar aged buddies in our beautiful San Diego regional mountains and put about another 40 miles on the pavement on the old Trek. I would like to do more back country hill riding so I may try to convert the Trek to a triple to get me a bit more steep climbing ability. I think I may try time trials after a group of 20 something riders wanted to know if I was training for the senior olympics...hmmm, hadn't given that any thought...ah, to be that young again. My other interests include kayaking with my wife, Patti, riding motorcycles on pavement and off-road, hiking and body board surfing. My motto has become, "4th quarter, clock running...no timeouts...!". Look forward to learning and contributing to the forum...ride safely, carl

Hi Carl--we still think of you as just a kid! Even if your birth certificate says you are 65 years old, as long as you are cycling you are still a kid :D .

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions :) !
