DC Biker

Hello all,
I live on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. I've just started riding a road bike and love it. I have a used, less likely to be stolen, bicycle I got a couple months ago. Hoping to get in shape for tri season next year. I joined to post about my dual head pump that does nothing but blow air out the non presta hole whenever I try to pump my tires. So, at the moment I'm not riding.

Did you flip the lever that "locks" the pump onto the valve and also directs the air into the tube? Yellow in the top picture, gray in the second picture.

Commuting is a great way to work in miles and DC's a great commuting town. Welcome to the forums.

How old is the pump? Could the valve head be failing?

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions :) !

Wow. this is a great forum. I don't have any sort of control to direct the pump in one or the other directions. It's a brand new Blackburn pump ... AT1. It was the cheapest pump I could find that had a gauge. Anyway, I'm guessing I'll probably have to invest in a better pump or need to return this one.

I've solved my bike pump problem with the help of the forum members. My problem was I didn't push the presta fitting down far enough. Thanks everyone. I'm really enjoying the forum.

Welcome Stanton. I am a fellow Hill resident, although probably a generation ahead of you since you are talking Tris. Is Stanton your name or do you live over by Stanton Park?

My last name is Stanton. I live close to the Folger Shakespeare Library. Right now I've been doing more running than biking, but I need to get with it.

Oh yeah, and by the way my first name is Mark, but I go by Stanton or Stan as often as Mark.
