Hey there. I came across this forum after looking at a few others but this one seems to be pretty busy so I will be studying up here.
I used to ride MTB exclusively when I lived in PA. I moved to Tucson about 8 years ago and just didnt like to have to haul my bike tothe trails so I put it in the shed. (I was very spoiled living in the Poconos, just going out the door and having a trail there.)
About a year ago, I threw slicks on the old stumpjumper and loved it. I felt like a kid again. Well, i then decided to get a Raleigh Gransport for more serious riding. A little after that I heard about fixed gear bikes, I know I am outa the loop. So I converted an early 80s (?) Schwinn Traveler to fixed. So now I am about to sell the Gransport cause I just don't ride it. I plan to get a Raleigh Rush hour. The LBS has an 06 for $450 which I am hoping to get lower in price or maybe that price out the door with a few changes, like a shorter crank.
I really dont know too much about biking, I just love to do it. I think that I am going to ride my fixed gear in the El Tour this year. No, I dont plan on winning, just having fun but I will train. Right now I am building up my miles, my diet is very good, and I am at 10% BF. I would like to get into group riding but not really sure yet which bunch will be for me.
So hello out there in interweb land and thanks for all the great info here.

Hello robabeatle, your story sounds like a fairly standard evolution in bicycles, but always with the same ending--'I just love to do it' !

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !
