Late last summer I bought a Phillips (or Raleigh-made Phillips) English 3-speed for $20. I was actually just planning on using it for "pieces and parts" as I rebuilt a 1970's Raleigh Sprite that I bought for $35. Anyhow, not knowing much of anything about the Phillips brand and doing some further research, (Yes, I have read Seldon Brown), I've decided that it is actually a much more interesting bike than my Sprite. So my question is this: there is no serial number on the frame (which is in excellent shape, by the way) nor is their a date on the Sturmey-Archer AW 3-speed internal geared hub. Everyone seems to think that there should be a date on the hub, but none is there. Does that mean that this is a really cheap Raleigh-made Phillips or a really cheap Sturmey-Archer hub, or what?

You have to go throw these kinds of questions to the C&V forum. But come armed with pictures, or else they get unruly.
