Newbie from Minneapolis with Vintage Cinelli

Hello fellow Bikers,
I have a vintage (1991) Cinelli Mtn Bike. Trying to decide if I should buy a new fancy bike, or refurbish this one...it's a pretty cool frame (tiramisu with Gary Fisher parts). Is it worth getting it retofitted or should I sink the cash into a new urban assult vehicle? thx

Welcome to BF.
Ask the folks in the Classic & Vintage forum about the bike. They'll offer lots of advice. They also like pics.

Hey! I saw you were from Minneapolis, I'm from Duluth! As for your question, I think it depends on what you want to do with the bicycle. If you just want to use it to commute or something like that, refurbishing it could be fun, but if you want to start bombing down single track, then you may want to get a newer bicycle. My MTB is a hardtail, and as I was mountain biking through the rockies I was really wishing I'd spent a little extra for better parts and a shock in the back. But it's your call. I myself want to fix up and combine two bikes to make a vintage commuter, should be neat!

If I were still in my 20's I'd be bombing down single track...but since I'm not, I'll be commuting to work a few days a week, riding with the kids on trails, and recreational riding. I sold my other 3 bikes, but somehow couldn't part with this one. I really do think I'll re-furbish this one and make an urban assault vehicle out of it...and maybe even ride up in Duluth!

Will do...thanks for the advice. I'll take photos as well (as soon as I clean it up a bit!)
