Chicago cyclist commutes from Lincoln Square to the Loop (downtown Chicago) via the LSD (LakeShore Drive) on some days, other days commutes across the hallway to do systems analysis and read forums on the intarweb. I humbly seek your knowledge about bike commuting.

Please tell me about this strange "3rd dimension" you speak of with its "hills" and "valleys".

Oh, and I'm a libra.

I think LSD might have been talking about the bikepath that parallels LSD. I sure hope they've repaired that path. I remember casing a jump on my MTB trying to gap two sections of broken concrete near Oak Street Beach about 15 years ago. My rear rim was not happy.

I forgot about that path. I haven't been down to the lakefront in years much less ridden "the drive".

Welcome... I used to ride in Chicago occasionally when I lived in the suburbs. It was good for my urban survival skills, and made into the Kamikazee Kommuter I am today.
