Just wanna Say Hi!

Hi all! Im new here. I love to work on and restore icky old bikes. I buy them, work on them, Tarde them and sell a few. I like the vintage 70's road bikes and commuter bikes. Doing a few single speed conversions and am going to built a fixed gear too. Just need to find the right platform to work with.

I am restoring an old workmans trike, customized with a few stingray parts. I am also almost done with a nice old Columbia Sports II, Mens 3 speed that I have made a few adjustments to. I am using some neat old schwinn parts on that one also including a hard to find Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub with a bendix brake. I have done some neat stuff with decal vinyl to help costumize it and cover all the bad scratches.
Both just need tires tubes and cables to be road worthy.

I also have a late 80's early 90's Raleigh Technium that will be a single speed here as soon as I get the rear rim relaced. I have it all cleaned up and overhauled. I have about 6-7 other old bikes that will be frankenbiked together or used as part fodder.

Oh and I just picked up a dirty old early 70's Sekine that will make for a nice single speed or fixie.

I stay at home and care for my wife who has overcome a monster size (3" diam) brain tumor and lived to tell about it. Working on bikes is great therapy for me and keeps me busy as well as earning a few bucks here and there from it.

I was a bike mechanic/assembler for a bike dealer in Uptown Mpls in the early 80's and have had the bike bug ever since. I am sure I am in good company here on this forum and hope to learn a few things and share a few things too.

Thanks for reading, have a good one.

Hi Bob, I have over 12 bikes, most of which can be seen if you click on my link to the Vintage bikes. Some of them aren't listed, though, and others have been sent to better homes.

You need to come stop by the Classic & Vintage forum--you will feel right at home there.

Oh, and how's your wife doing?

Thanks for the welcome

Hi,
Thanks for the welcome. Ill stop by that forum and see your rides.

My wife is doing better but has sufferd left side paralysis and some other physical functions. Shes still sharp as a tac but has some memory issues and likes to ruminate on stuff from time to time. Shes a tough cookie and things are looking up as she is doing well in therapy and SSDI and her long term disability has set in now so things are better. The last 8 mos have been a struggle but when you love someone your there for the long haul.

The bikes keep me sane as I get very involved in making an old ugly pile of rusty crap into a full functioning piece of art. Old bikes are COOL!

Ill chat with ya later.
Thanks
