Colnago confusion ...
Hey guys I'm new to road bikes, I've been commuting thru city on an array of old bmx's, but suddenly wanted to go fast . I've just got an old road bike with colnago decals, which is unlikely, given the price (low), it looks similar to a peugeot I also looked at, and the cranks are stamped peugeot, the lady i bought it from bought it 13 years ago when it was already a year or two old . Not really sure what i should be looking for to determine just what I've got . Not that it matters, it's light and I'm gonna ride it . 11573 is stamped under the bottom bracket if that helps anyone . Oh, and it's a 14 speed and has some kind of tour de france logo engraved on the bars ? Any help would be much appreciated .
Meanwile, it's a beautiful summer in New Zealand and as long as I don't get caned by the sun, I should be able to get an hour or two in every day . It's not responsible, but the only downside to my road bike is that it's very hard to ride drunk with drop bars. lighting a smoke and text messaging is a nightmare. I've no idea how urban fixie guys do it .

Welcome. It doesn't sound like a Colnago. I have had many, and almost all steel frames have the little clover cutouts integrated on the frame. Usually underneath the crank area, the bottom bracket. Like you say, so what, ride it! Be carefull, road bikes are a lot different than BMXrz! I had a girlfriend from Nelson, and she was a marathon runner. I met her in Southern California. She brought a piece of junk bike in for a tune-up. Smart girl. I think she liked me for my bikes. We rode the same size, you see! Anyway, good luck, and maybe some day a nice bike will come your way.
