I am from houston. I used to love riding my bike around the neighborhood. The only commuting I've done is to and from middle school (it was no longer cool to bike in high school). My first bike was this little red huffy with orange handlebars, which I could only stop by slamming hard backwrds on the pedal. The first fall I can remember was when my cousin and I rode his bike at the same time, my laces caught the gears(?), my face scraped the concrete as he rolled onto the grass.

So other than riding around when bored, i dont know anything about bikes.
I need a new hobby/interest but none of my friends are interested about bikes, houstonians

Howdy and welcome to the forums. There's actually quite a bit of cycling done in the Houston area, it just tends to be spread out where you don't notice it that much. I was surprised when I was down there a while back to find that FM 1960 had bike lanes on it.

I've been noticing that a lot of the folks up north are not riding much now, so south Texas, FL, and CA seem to be the places to be for now.

Check into the Texas forum when you get a chance.

For what it's worth, I grew up in Clute, about an hour south of you there.
