Greetings from Snowy Chicagoland!

Hello. Just joined the forum since I am re-entering the cycling world and am planning a tour this summer. I have to get a new bike and more overall knowledge and am positive that everyone here will serve up mounds of info and inspiration. Glad to be here!

I'm interested in long-distance multi-day touring, however I'm a marathon runner and am also interested in trying triathlons. Too bad I don't know of one bike that can do both great.

Anything that's good for the long distance touring is NOT going to work well for the triathlons. That nice slack geometry that's good for touring is just not compatible with the tris.

However, it does give you a good excuse for having at least two bikes .
