I'm new to these forums, but more importantly I'm also new to cycling. I never liked riding bikes as a kid, but that's starting to change. I always enjoyed working on cars, and that's been my hobby for several years now. But I'm out of room for new projects, and money is tight these days. I decided that bicycles would take up less room, plus they're quite a bit cheaper and easier to work on.

I just bought a 199?/200? Diamond Back Apex and a 77 Raleigh Grand Prix. I just now got them both going good, and I was wondering if there were any suggestions on what to do next. Should I invest in a really nice new bike, or should I stick with fixing up older ones. I'd really like to get one of the 60's Sears bikes, but I can't seem to find one of those anywhere close.

I'm in Hutchinson, Kansas so the only places I have to ride are dirt roads and paved roads. No hills, mountains, streams, or anything like that here, so I don't need a super nice bike. My job is 7 miles away, but there's not much heavy traffic other than in the evening.

I think the two bikes I have will work great for now. I really love the diamond back. But I want to keep fixing up more bikes as I come across them.

Stick with the bikes you have now for a little bit. This is so you can find what you like and what you dont like. Then when you feel you are ready, upgrade to something nicer you like. Noneed to get an expensive fancy bike at first. You dont know what you like yet.
