New Here, just getting into riding after many years.

Glad to have found this forum. I am getting back into riding for fitness. I have been riding my exercise bike a lot lately and want spring and better weather so I can get out on the roads. I'm also looking for a bike to do so on. It has been many years since I have done any real riding.
I have a couple of ideas on bikes so far. I want to keep it simple and and really looking into single speeds, not neccessarilly a fixie, but a comfortable bike for 1 to 2 hour rides. It is fairly flat here and the simple design and low maintenance is a big plus for my lifstyle (self employed with most of my work seasonal and during the riding season here...)
I am torn between bikes like the Schwinn Madison and Specialized Langster or something like the Specialized Globe- San francisco models.
I will be doing some research here and hope to test ride the above soon as weather permits here (MI).
