Greetings from Toledo, Ohio
I've been cycling for a few years, I use to race in high school many moons ago. Recently started really hating anything to do with cars.
All I can stay is give me a bike ,a nice road and I'm good to go.

Being originally from Toledo, and commuting for several winters there, it is possible, and good luck to you! Once you figure out the side streets commuting in Toledo is actually quite nice.

I too live in Toledo, and I am sick of this "hole" of a city. I am trying my best to help out with the green thing and improve my health. My gripe is our beloved city recycling truck must have a hole in it. Every back street from secor to douglas north of central has broken glass piles every 20 feet or so. I flattened two tires in a week. It's not like you can avoid them, because after the street sweeper goes by, it doesn't pick it up, it just pushes it all over the street. I thought the potholes of toledo where bad, but this takes the cake. I give up on Toledo, as its the most user "un-friendly" city I have ever lived in.
Just had to vent for a minute there, thanks and keep on trekking.

Argh, I hate broken glass. Oddly enough, I find more on the sidewalks, though. Another reason for riding in the street, at least here.

Toledo not to bad
Some days are better then others. Housing costs are great compared to other areas, if you have a job. I live on the East side and try to bike anytime I have to go downtown, hate to pay for parking.

Huh? Housing prices in Toledo are dead cheap! When I left ten years ago I was paying $350 all utilities included for a whole two bedroom carriage house! A buddy of mine just picked up a three bedroom house on the west side of town for $32,000!

I am still up in the air on Toledo's livablility. I do like going to rocket f-ball, and mudhens games. Just get out of downtown before dark. The roads right now are almost undrivable(pot hole hell). Violent crime is definately on the rise and looks to only get worse with Toledos economy and real unemployment rate of around 25%.
The people for the most part are very friendly and nice. Tons of resturaunts and diners (good frickin food). The political system is a joke though. I like that Toledo is very accessible, 15 minutes to anywhere in a car. But has anyone noticed all of the closed down stores and shops in the strip malls(especially in north toledo). And the affordability issue on matters if your moving back. It doesn't help those of us who are stuck in a house that were trying to sell to move to were the jobs are.
