Just bought my first bike TORONTO

Hi! I bought my first bike about 2 months ago. The weather here in Toronto is allowing me to get out for the 1st time. Although almost massively sunburned (being stupid of course with no sunscreen), bruised and scraped up, I had an awesome time out yesterday trying things out. I've used my bike primarily as a commuter up to this point but am trying to get to know it further. Totally new to the whole thing, it was by divine intervention by a bike oriented friend that pushed me into wanting one at all. Bought a GT Avalanche 3.0 (mountain bike)
Relatively new to toronto as well, so I am not familiar with trails or ANYTHING really, and it seems that the persons I thought I would be biking with would prevail, alas they are not...so I've got this great bike, no one to ride with and somewhat new to the city. So bring me here!

Make sure to try the beltline trail and the ravines. They are awesome for a hot day. Wish I was still in Toronto......

I used to live near Finch and Islington. I used to ride down the trail by the Humber river along the lakeshore and then up the Don valley. The trouble with these trails is that you have to limit your speed. A country ride I used to take was up Weston road to Holland marsh and back down Hwy 27. I think ther are recreational rides that start in High Park on Sat mornings - maybe you can find the details in one of the many good bike shops in TO. Good luck
