Rose from Los Angeles

About 5 years ago I bought a beach cruiser from WalMart with the intention of riding my bike to work/the store/for fun. That lasted about a week. After that it lived in my garage for 5 years.

A little over a month ago I got it in my head to do the Pasadena Sprint Tri. All I had was my musty old beach cruiser, so I signed my brother up and made him ride that, while I did the tri on his mountain bike. Neither of us did well, especially in the biking section, I can't imagine why.

Anyway, I signed up for another tri, in May. This meant I needed a bike, since my brother was not giving up his mountain bike again. So, I bought a hybrid at Target (clearly, I shop at quality bike shops), and started riding it to work as practice.

So, here I am.

Much good luck on the tri. If you can please have the Taget bike checked at a bike shop to make sure it was assembled correctly.

Some excellent advice there.

In the meantime, why not check out the adverts on the local Craigslist? You can find decent bikes there for not a whole lot more money, and if they are older lugged steel bikes, they are likely to be your willing servants for many many years!

Welcome to BikeForums .
