Hi all
Stumbled upon this forum when reminiscing and looking for pix of my second bike (Holdsworth Equipe).
I'm not new to cycling but I've not properly cycled since getting a dog 8 years ago - but now I've resurrected a lifelong (well, since I was 7) hobby as I need to lose a bit of weight, get fit, and prepare for a scenic Lands End to John O Groats for my 50th year (in 4 years time).
Bike history(fairly humble):
Triumph Rodeo 3-Speed
Holdsworth Equipe - written off in '79, replaced with:
Holdsworth Mistral - self-built for fast touring (essentially Audaxing but I'd never heard of that then) - laid up for several years, restored in '93 and then bent in 3 places in '96 (ouch!), replaced with:
Thorn Audax (custom build) - I was Audax-ing in the late 90's - a superb bike perfect for the hills and lanes of Devon and possibly the ideal bike for the Lands End John O'Groats trip I'm planning.
Gary Fisher Tassajara '07 - bought to help revitalize my enthusiasm in cycling and widen my options as not all my friends ride on-road.
And several hack/commuting bikes made-up from spares and 2nd hand frames.
I've always passionately believed that everyone should have a bike, no matter what it is, even if they don't use it as much as they ought.
