Hi from LA, CA
Hey there,
I've been stumbling around the web looking for answers to all my questions concerning bikes. And every now and then these forums seemed to be the perfect spot to find enlightenment. So finally I decided to add myself. I'm from Europe, so I am driving bikes since I was a little kid and used them for pretty much everything from commuting to transportation. I did some Mountain Biking when my knees were still fine and later I realized that racing bikes are just not the right thing for me. So I settled on a cross-over. I even imported my bike when I moved to the US. I love it with my whole heart! The steel frame must be about 15 years old by now, it's a Stevens Trekking LX. It's heavy but sturdy and gives me total control. I keep on changing parts, replacing them, trying different configurations. It never let me down so far. |
Welcome to the forums, hara!

Good to have you in SoCal! You might want to check out the Southern California forum if you're looking for local information/riding buddies.

Thanks! And great to see once again that every forum has its weirdos.
;) edit: Oh and thanks for moving this thread, I was a little stupid to post it somewhere else first. |
No problem moving it for you at all. :D

If you ever need a good place to fix your bike by yourself, and you don't want a bike shop to do it, you can go to these great bicycle co-ops.
Bikerowave http://www.bikerowave.org/ Bicycle Kitchen http://www.bicyclekitchen.com/who.html Bike oven http://bikeoven.com/ For a hourly rate you can use a bike stand, all their tools and all their cleaning supplies. You can also buy used parts for cheap when you need them. The volunteer staff at these places are always helpful for when you don't know how to do something. |
also check out www.midnightridazz.com
there are fun night time rides almost every night and you may make a few good friends :) |
Welcome to bike forums...

Thanks for the links, Ibikez. I am a fan of Bike Oven, like the crowd there a lot. Kitchen tends to confuse me too much, I am so sensible ;)
Once I get my ride back in shape I will be joining on the nightly ones. |
