Hello From San Diego
I have been re-introduced to the sport of bicycling again after laying off for 10+ years. What i do now for income allows me to get out just about anytime I like, especially on the weekends when the kids are not in school. I recently bought a Giant TCR C1 and was riding a converted MTB as a road bike. So needless to say the road bike is a nice change for road performance. I'm a bigger rider at 6-1" and 240lbs. Because of my size, I have been sticking to coastal rides that are for the most part flat for California standards. It has been about four months since I bought my new bike and have been training. At this point I am starting to challenge myself a bit to tackle the hills, so that i can diversify my rides a bit for a number of reasons. This weekends ride will have 500 ft in elevation change from my starting point at sea level for the most part. I joined these forums to see if I can gain some insight as to make the elevation change rides a little easier on my overall ride and to eventually ride with clubs and in organized rides in the Southern California area. My typical rides are 25-100 miles a week on 1 to 3 rides.
I'm open to any suggestions that might help with climbs and with pre and post ride diet :@[/SIZE]
