g'day from a bicycle student in Melbourne
I was finding myself reading many helpful, thorough threads on this forum, so thought I'd join in. I'm a student, 24, from Melbourne, Australia, and now that I have a thesis to write, I suddenly have a newfound obsession for bikes!
I enjoy touring (there's so much to see in this vast country), and old bikes in general. A few weeks ago my lovely custom-built touring bike was stolen (an old shogun frame with a nice steel rack, both powder-coated dark green)... I miss that bike, it served me well for a couple of years, and took me up Mount Buller! So naturally, I replaced it with not one, but three bikes.. oh dear.
One is an old postie bike, the lorry-truck of the Australian bike family, I take it shopping of course, although these bikes have been known to cart other humans around on the back! The other is an old malvern '2' star track bike from the 1930s or 40s which I am currently restoring and hope to ride around the local velodrome. The third is a Raleigh Record circa 1970, which I'm currently trying to get sorted out so it can start taking me to uni and back... fast!
