Hello from MI

Hi to those of you browsing here...I just joined because my friend got me pumped on the idea of building up a bike. He picked me up a Motobecane Super Mirage (ugly brownish/khaki looking paint) and I've gotta put some new tubes in the tires and get the derailleur working...and I'll be riding real soon!

Umm yeah, I like Nikes and Metal (well, lots of music) too. I'll soon be loving bikes.

Welcome to the Forums. I'm a native of Michigan and learned to appreciate the cycling lifestyle there in the 1970's so I always like to say Hi to Michigan cyclists. I notice that most Michiganian Introductions are from the state, rather than a town as the location, though the Detroiters are usually from "Metro Detroit," but also not otherwise specified. So more specifically where are you from and what kind of riding do you do? (I'm from the East Side of Detroit, and was a tourist for a long time, now a year round commuter and occasional centurian here in Boston).

I'm actually from Farmington Hills, just far enough away from any big city that I need a car to get anywhere. But I'm in Ann Arbor weekly (every Saturday) so I definitely am going to start riding around the area...or making it a point to try to if I have time.

My friend just turned me on to biking and I'm focusing right now on road bikes and actually going to buy a frame today for a fixed gear/ss project. I think I'm more turned on to the thought of building a bike from the frame up rather than going out and buying a complete bike...probably all the Legos I played with as a kid. Yep, that's about all I can think of right now.

Thanks for the response!
