"Vintage" bike newbie

Hello all,

I'm from France, interested in "old" bikes, which means steel from 1900 to 1975. Have a small collection of pretty insignificant stuff which the Great Expert Millionaire Collecting World would laugh at, but I like the gear. Interested in corresponding with other "collectors" worldwide. One thing I can't do is assist with finding and sending old French parts worldwide, too expensive, too much hassle, and I'm not a dealer, I buy, don't sell. A bit of the gear is up on flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/27041895@N05/ bit it ain't all bikes, there's more to life than things with two wheels. There's another small site a bit more ordlerly, which I guess you can access via my profile.

Cheers

Welcome to Bike Forums and might I suggest a quick stop at the Classic & Vintage forum? I think
you'll recognize more than a few of the posters from Classic Rendezvous (as I do you from the
photo page).
As for the Great Expert Millionaire Collecting World we're a little bit more down to earth here,
with more than a smattering of vintage city bikes, 3 speed Sturmey Archer based bikes, and quite
a few French bikes. I really like your 1940 Carminade and the Follis, but I think the real jewel in your
collection is the Meral, absolutely stunning.

Thx for the welcome

Thank you Marty, looks like an interesting forum indeed, guess there's a load of info available, and indeed, not much of the rather annoying elitism and animosity/jealousy. Tastes differ, but a bike is a bike. The Meral is a nice bike, always draws attention, something to do with the way the chrome is laid out. Plus it rides a dream, and is nicely built. One of my favourites too.

What Pink Mercier ?

Thx Alicestrong. A pink Mercier ? No idea which bike you mean :)
