Hello from middle America

Hi all. I am new to the forum and fairly new to cycling. In the last few months, I have spent an inordinate amount of time (and money) becoming engrossed in the bicycling culture. I bought a hybrid bike from a local bike store (LBS?) because I wanted to get back into bike riding. The last bike I owned was a BMX bike as a kid. I now ride my bike almost every day, even around my busy suburban neighborhood running errands. I am planning a multi-day bike trip later this summer, and I have been conditioning myself to get used to long rides. I'm already at the point were 30-40 miles is easy, but I'm still working at it.

I've really enjoyed my bike, its a pleasure to do somthing that is both fun and healthy. I've come to this forum to seek knowledge from fellow cyclists and share stories.

Welcome to the forums! I'm sure you will find lots of useful information here and lots of people to share stories with. When you get deeper into touring you might want to consider a recumbent. They can be fitted to carry a decent amount of gear, have excellent visibility (all the better to view the scenery), and are tops in comfort for long hauls. I just recently switched from a DF (diamond frame) bike to a 'bent and my only regret is not having done it sooner. It made such a change in my riding habits that I'm now doing limited commuting to work. Just something to consider. Again, welcome to the forums.
