Hello from Gainesville
Hello from Gainesville, here. I've been using the forums for bike research since my Giant hybrid/standard college fare bike was stolen a few weeks ago. Now that I'm getting ready to make a new purchase I figured I'd register and get some advice
Great site!

Welcome to Bike Forms. It's too bad your bike was stolen. But the good part is that you have an excuse to shop for a new one!
What kind of bike are you looking for?

I'm thinking of pairing a modern fixed-gear with a vintage road bike (preferably with an internal gear hub, but man are those hard to find!).
I've been looking at the Jamis Beatnick and the SE Lager as a "school and back" bike.
For the vintage bike, I've been looking for Raleighs, etc, from the 1940s and 1950s, but apparently they're very rare. I might have to give up on the internal gear hope (short of doing a conversion myself) and go with a vintage 10 speed or similar.
Another option would be to flip it: get a vintage fixed gear (tons of those around) and a modern road/comfort bike. I like the first setup though.

How can you live in G'ville and not get all caught up in the Gator hype? Especially during football season. Good luck finding a new ride. With all the students it shouldn't be too hard. And take a look at Craigslist for something slightly used is you know what your looking for.
