riding again after 24 years in the sf bay area!

Just got a new bike to replace the old chromoly Centurion I use to ride in high school. It's great to get out on the road again after about 24 years! So I guess I'm an "old newbie." I'm amazed at how much lighter everything has gotten and not to mention how much more expensive. Kestrel was about the only carbon fiber bike on the market back when I was riding. And Cannondale had the aluminum thing going. Shimano had just introduced SIS and friction shifting was on it's way out. I remember $2500 - $3000 would get you a top of the line bike and that was for everything! Components and all - not just a frame and fork.

I'm glad I found this forum and looking forward to all of your knowledge & insight.
