When did "Go ahead" start meaning "No"?
A couple of weeks ago, I told my wife that I was thinking of buying a bicycle for exercise. She immediately gave me grief about things that I have started but gave up after a while. But eventually she said "go ahead if that is what you want to do".
So I bought a Trek 7.2 FX. Was she thrilled? Ouch. After 36 years of marriage, I should have known. Anyway, she is willing to support me if I use it. I'll be 70 in a couple of months. While not too overweight, I am out of shape. The only exercise I get is a weekly golf game, jumping to conclusions, and running off at the mouth. I took the bike out for a short spin this morning, about 4 miles of fairly level riding. Weather was perfect, the bike handled like a dream. Dave |
Enjoy it - and get out every day on it.
With a lot more miles on it - you will both be happy. |

Welcome, Dave. Enjoy your new bike. I hope you get plenty of beneficial use out of it. After a few months of constant exercise, your new Roman God body will change your wife's tone. ;) Good luck! |
Welcome to Bike Forums Dave. Congratulations on getting out on the bike! Now you just need to get your wife to join you. :)

Welcome Dave.
Just ride slow for 1,000 miles, then your legs will be strong. Meet Roy: At 73 he rode 4200 miles in 58 days. http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...e/IMG_5879.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...ictures010.jpg I was with him: |
I can hear that conversation now.
"Honey, I'm gong to ride across the country with some friends". "Sure, go right ahead". :) |
Oldest member of our club is 79 yrs old, and until two years ago - he commuted everywhere - like he had since age 5 (he used to give commuting talks at club outings) - and he ran and rode our time trials once a week. He retired from his board member post, but still comes out on club rides with his daughter.
