Hi,

My name is Ralph and I have NEVER "posted a thread" before, in any type of forum. So, take it easy, OK? I am 49 (soon to be 50) and have been riding for about a year now. I really enjoy riding my Giant FCR to work almost daily but am looking to get another bike for weekend rides along the river trail and beyond. I never knew that bike riding could be so much fun, not to mention the exercise benefit. can someone tell me the "proper" forum for asking for advice/opinions about what type of additional bike might be best for me considering its intended use?

Welcome to Bike Forums, Ralph. Are you looking for an off-road mountain bike that you can ride over rocks and dirt, or a hybrid that you can use for road or some trail riding? We have forums for both kinds of bikes.

Actually I am looking to move up to a "real" road bike somewhere in the $2000 - $3000 range, preferably used. So far I am considering a Litespeed Classic and a Fuji SL1 but am open to any brand. I am specifically looking for advice/opinions on titanium versus carbon, etc. Thank you

You could ask the folks in Road Cycling forum, but they can be vicious at times.
Or since you live near L.A. you could ask the folks in the Southern California Regional subforum.
Or since you'll soon be 50, you could ask the folks in the 50+ forum. They ride some nice bikes and are very mellow.
Lots of choices.
