First Post From Niagara Region, Ont., Canada

I have stared riding again after a long absense.

My wife bought a bike in late August for exercise, I wasn't keen at the time but I dusted off a 1981 Panasonic Tourist I have had since I bought it new, thinking I needed to get out and do something, too.

I visited the local dealer where my wife bought her bike and talked to the dealer who checked out what I might be interested in and my basic "dimensions, then made some recommendations. I then "made the mistake" of taking a Trek Navigator 2.0 out. This was just to go around the block for a quick test with no serious intent to buy, after the first circuit, I went around the bolck again, then bought the bike.

I have been "training" to get accustomed to riding with the intent of riding the Friendship Trail and other nice trails in this area. I did get out on my first ride on the trail last week and did 25 km.

I am enjoying my bicycle and riding far more than I expected and will ride until the first time it snows and they salt the roads (corrosive  ). I am having such a good time, I am riding my Nav. 2.0 more than my motorcycle, right now:lol:

Welcome to the forum, that sounds great. You are also nearby a great discount retailer, Niagara Cycle works.

You should stop by the C&V forum, I am sure some people would be interested in your Panasonic, they made some very nice bikes.

Thanks for the intro on Niagara Cycle works. I already do some cross-border shopping for motorcycle gear since shops there have a good choice and actually have "double, extra wide" :o sport bike gear on the rack, so it can be tried on, as opposed to special order.

Also, I did find that section of the forum by accident and posted about the Panisonic on it.

Welcome to Bike Forums. It's amazing how different a new bike feels compared to an older one, isn't it?

There are a lot of winter riders here who deal with snow and salt. Check out the Canadian regional forums and the Winter Riding and Commuting forums.
