Newbie Looking for a Road Bike

Hello Everyone,
I am a beginner cyclist (I actually haven't yet begun) and I need some advice on finding the right bike for me. I am a female 5'10", 150 lbs. I've been spinning for the last year and I am ready to get out on the roads but I don't know what type of bike I should get and how much I should spend. I would eventually like to commute to work which is only about 15 miles each way but don't want to spend too much until I know that this is for me. Please give me some advice on a road bike with the best value for someone in my situation. Thank you!

The bike I or someone else likes isn't necessarily the bike you will like. Get out to your local bike shops and test ride bikes to your heart's content. Narrow down to a short list of the bikes that fit you, your fancy and your budget the best, then post it here for some help narrowing down the field.

San Diego hills would most likely require a bike with three front chain rings, called a triple.
15 miles is long commute if hills are involved.

Visit some bike shops and talk to folks there.

Welcome to Bike Forums! You should decide on a budget for your bike, and then do some test rides.

What part of San Diego are you from? If you post in the Southern California regional forum, they can give you recommendations for good bike shops.
