Greetings from Fremont
Good Afternoon to Everyone on the Board -
I'm getting into road biking as an alternative/cross training to running (the thing I really like to do). Currently own an old mountain bike (Spec FSR) but haven't done any off-road stuff in years. Looking to road biking for two reasons: 1) I'm what's considered a Clydesdale - as is such, I realize that guys like us aren't really designed to run and as I get older, I might be facing joint and injury issues; 2) My biking friends tell me that I need to work on balance in my life and a good way to do that is to break up my periods of running with biking (but they may be biased
Probably will be getting a road bike within the next two weeks - buying something called a Dawes Galaxy from a friends father - going to wind up using the frame and replacing the rotating bits as budget allows. Not the lightest, I'm sure, but I'm told that I'll do quite nicely with this plan.
Looking forward to seeing you in the forums!

Welcome to Bike Forums! Check out the Clydesdale/Athena forum for tips on getting your new bike set up. And don't forget to post a photo, too.

Welcome RunningPirate ! With guidance from the friend & father, you with the bike should be on tack in no time. I'm a Clyde, better than being a Shire Heavy Draft.
