Hello from Ruidoso, New Mexico

I've enjoyed the forums on bicycling.com and roadbikereview.com and was delighted to find this one. I don't know why it's taken me so long but it looks like a wealth of information and entertainment. I've been cycling in earnest for about two years now and, having just moved up to the mountains, just have to become a better climber. Help!!! Actually, I think I know how but it's a process you know. I think I'll always be building that base ... hope springs eternal.

We have a house in Ruidoso (I live in the Dallas area). I always bring my bike with me when we go out there. I like to ride up Sierra Blanca. That's a pretty good climb!!! I think 3,100 feet of climbing in 12.5 miles...

My hat is off to you -- I haven't even attempted Sierra Blanca. I rode the Tour de Ruidoso and the 5500 of climbing over 62 miles (the metric was enough) was killer for me. My site name is a bit tongue in cheek -- I'm 55 years of age and starting at 52 was just too late. But I sure am having fun.
