Return to cycling

Hello from Texas!

I have returned to my love of cycling. Been away for about 9 years. Cycled w/ a group of friends and did manyrides(MS 150 - Houston to Austin, Rubicon in Longview, Beauty and the Beast in Tyler were some of my favorites) but kids came along and before you know it you forget how much you enjoyed something.

After watching Lance win #5 last year we got pumped. The kids are older (10 and 13) so we can get away withour a sitter now. So we got out the old bikes and rode and fell in love with cycling again. Then the fever for new bikes hit. Always wanted a tandem but could not afford it 10 years ago, really could not afford it now but sold the wife on how romantic it would be, how we could talk without being interrupted by the kids, and it will help us lose weight and get fit again. Turns out I was'nt selling her at all because it is all true! Next we bought my 13 and Specialize Dolce and got her riding with us. A TREK 7 speed tag a long hooked to our tandem and the 10 year old can come along to and it slows us down so the 13 can keep pace with us. (the 10 is very small for her age, hope to keep her on the tag a long until some kid says it is a baby bike then I know it will be all over). Now the whole family is cycling, spending quality time together, getting fit and most of all having fun and making memories for a lifetime.

Now Lance has won #6 and counting I hope. What a inspiration he is to all who suffer or know someone who is suffering from cancer. Just lost a sister in law to breast caner, another sister in law is being treated now, my mother had one removed and my sister has had several lumps but all neg. so far. I am afraid my daughters are cursed. Cancer is a terrible disease no matter what type. Lets all ride for them and get a yellow wristband to show your support.

This forum is great and shows what classy people cycle.
