New from Lincoln, NE
Hey everybody, I just recently got back into cycling after a few years, and during my search for information on a new bike that i might buy after saving up, i came across the forum, and it looked like a pretty chill place. :thumb: Although i must say it has been a while because a 9 mile ride+ a crash on an icy trail left me sore and tired. I look forward to good times here.:)

Welcome to Bike Forums.
What bikes are you looking at? |
I was thinking of a touring or road, but the problem is, i can't decide.

Welcome back to the world of the bike, it really is infectious. I'm originally from Lincoln myself (and no the big_red thing is not related to this). It seems that Lincoln and Omaha have a good number of cycling enthusiasts. I would stop into the shops and see about getting involved with a group ride or club.

Welcome. I am also in Lincoln. Definitely a fun cycling scene here. Here's a list of most of the shops that I've been to in town.
Monkey Wrench (Downtown) a cool shop, run by guys who like to ride bikes. Lots of nice higher end bikes, few accessories. Cycle Works / Mooses tooth (27th and Vine and also on 70th and Pioneers(ish)) another cool shop. More accessories, mostly entry to mid-level bike selection (with a few on the higher end). Bike Pedalers (14th and Pine Lake) Cool shop, used to be located in a converted house, now has a much bigger space, though I haven't been in the new shop in a while. I think it's mostly mid-level (few on the higher end). Joyride (14th and Pine Lake or Old Cheney) mostly mid level, only been there once. we have lots of cycling events and a ton of people who ride (mostly year round) in this town. Unfortunately, with the exception of the multi-use paths, the city isn't really as bike friendly as it could be. it's getting better though, as more people ride. |
