Noob From The Not So Frozen Tundra of Northern NY State
Hi! I took up XC skiing several weeks back & now we are having a mild winter & all of the snow is melting.
I thought a full suspension mountain bike would be handy to ride the back country trails up here near the Canadian border to keep up my weight loss/fitness routine.
I am considering buying a bike online & doing my own assembly, set up & maintenance. I see no reason to buy from an LBS & pay for services I can perform myself.
I am considering this particular bike.
Cadillac MDS 2.4. Full Suspension Mountain Bike
The Cadillac MDS 2.4 is a brand new addition to the Cadillac mountain bike lineup. With 100mm of front and rear travel the MDS 2.4 bike gives you greater control in all conditions, especially when hitting the trails.
A Shimano drive train provides smooth precise shifting. Powerful disc brakes in the front and rear ensure that you stop on the dime.
This mountain bike is available in a 17", 19" and 21" frame size, each has 26" wheels.
Full Specs:
Frame: Custom 7005 Aluminum with coil spring
Fork: RST GILA 100mm travel
Chain: KMC Z 51
Crankset: SR Suntour 48, 38, 28
Front Derailleur: Micro Shift Alloy
Rear Derailleur: Shimano Alivio
Shifters: Shimano Alivio 24 speed Dual Index Trigger Type
Brake levers: Shimano
Brakes: TEKTRO Mechanical Disc
Cassette: 13-34
Rims: 26" Vitesse V-Provile Alloy with Stainless Steel Spokes
Hubs: 32 HOLE Alloy Sealed Bearing
Tires: Kenda Nevegal 2.35 Wire Bead
Stem: Vitesse 31.8 Alloy 100mm 5 deg rise
Handlebar: Vitesse 31.8 Alloy Mountain Riser 10 deg bend 40mm rise
Headset: 1-1/8" High Stack Semi-Integrated
Saddle: Cadillac Custom Embossed
Seat post: 27.2
Pedals: VP Alloy Platform
Weight:V 29.9 lbs (19" Men's)
Color: Root beer/Black
Right now it is available for $399.99 shipped. I think it would do me well for back country exploring. Does anyone have any feedback on this newly introduced model?
