hi hi hi! from texas

or should i say "howdy"..

well, I dont have a road bike - but i really really really plan on getting one soon.. i just dont know what to get.. other than..uh.. 57.. and.. pretty?

i do want to get into the cycling community, because it seems so cool, fun, and healthy. plus, i like being outside.

currently, i just ride a cruiser (6 speed, i got it off the internet).. and well, i think its pretty awesome!!! its my favorite... it has really pretty fenders. i think.

anyway, if anyone has any tips on what bike i should get (i know, there are a million out there).. or if they live in dallas and want to give me a good deal!! that would be great!

ok .. so yeah!

hi! well, it depends.. I know this sounds dorky - but I kind of want to get rollers if i get a road bike, so that i dont make a fool of myself.. so my budget for EVERYTHING would be nice to be under 500, but I understand that road bikes are at least that much.. good ones anyway..

i was thinking about starting off with a cheap craigslist-esque version of a road bike.. but I havent seen any that I really like.. I also dont want a single speed.. I dont think.. I dont know.. I dont really understand.. I just know that on my cruiser I do like changing gears.. but my last bike was also a cruiser.. and had no gears.. and I did just fine.. I guess, once you go gears, you can never go back..

Craiglist is the way to go for your first road bike.
That is how I did it.
Found one for $15.
Rode it 1500 miles and got in shape for a new bike.

hi! my roommate just fell over laughing when I looked at the italy ride and what it was about. I have to agree with her, I dont think i will be quite ready for such a long ride by june! unless I get a road bike this week.. and ... well... ride a lot more than i do now on my cruiser! but i guess the 12 mile seems possible I will see if a friend will go with me
