Hello from Gothenburg, Sweden!
I just noticed another swede in this section, so I thought.... why not present myself? After all, Sweden has kind of a reputation (or did I just make that up?) of being a bicycle-friendly nation, so we got to keep it up and prove to the rest of the world that it's not all humbug!
Anyway, my name is Edvin. I live in Gothenburg, the nations second city, on the west coast of Sweden (or the best coast as we prefer to call it). I'm 18 years old and in my final year of "high school" (or gymnasium as we call it here) . I just picked up bicycle commuting again, after some years of just taking the bus and I absolutely love it. My commute to school is a very pleasant 7 km (4,3 miles), and it really feels good. My bike is an 8 speed Crescent Logic hybrid, which I completely adore. Have you guys heard of Crescent? One of the biggest brands in Sweden... So that's some words about me, I plan to post a picture of my bike soon, but I'm to tired to figure out how to do it right now!

Yeah I know, it is kind of big, but I just love being able to leave it downtown without worrying about getting it stolen.

I have some bike friends in New York City. They all have big locks and chains.

Welcome..... Goteborg is a nice city...or itwas when I visited a number of years ago. I knew a number of Swedes who had gone to Chalmers. I am pretty sure I rode a Crescent bike when I was there.

Don, type "bike rental Göteborg" in Google and click away. Most of the bikes will be 3 or 7/8 geared citybikes, but some places have MTBs as well. Road bikes would be more difficult to come by, I suspect. This is based on my experiences of bike rental elsewhere in Sweden, not specifically in Gothenburg.

The official tourist portal of Gothenburg (www.goteborg.com) returns about 8 hits, some of those are for the Gothenburg city bike system, so definitely not mtb or road. But there are several B&Bs, campsites etc that seem to offer bikes for rent.
