Hello from Columbus Ohio
Hi everyone,
My name is Rich and I live in Powell, which is NW Columbus, Ohio. I consider myself a beginner cyclist. I currently commute to work and, with recreational rides, average 150 miles/week.
I commute on a Diamondback Insight RS and recently bought a Scattante CFR Sport, which I hope to use as I try to become a better rider.
I am riding in Pelatonia 10, which is a ride to Athens, Ohio and back to raise money for cancer research. I think I have bitten off more than I can chew with this, but I am going to train hard to do as well as I can.
Nice to meet you all.

Welcome Rich to Bike forums.
Charity rides are fun rides.
Go slow, no one cares how far or fast you ride on them.

Newbie here as well. My father lives in columbus, if you're wanting to get in on some group rides, you might google "Columbus Outdoor Pursuits", as there are daily rides throughout the week varying in skill live and intensity.

Thanks for the tip caveman. I plan to get a little more confident (i.e. fit) and then join some rides

and another one, is there are TONS of places to ride in dublin. as far as riding with columbus outdoor pursuits, check the calendar carefully, as different days are different locations with different skill levels. for just getting started, theres the tuesday night hilliard ride that starts may 4th:
"Hilliard - Starting May 4th
Tuesdays 6:15 PM, class B, C, D - 16 to 35 miles depending on ability and preference. New and beginning riders welcome."
the class D rides are 9-12 mph, which once you've got a base, would be a good start to group riding, which is surely more enjoyable than riding solo

Hey, welcome to the forum! I'm in Columbus too, just North of OSU campus.
Cavemann, do you have more details on where to meet for that ride? I'd like to go to that. Do I need to be a member of columbus outdoor pursuits?
EDIT: Oh wait, nevermind, I found it : https://www.outdoor-pursuits.org/even...editEvent=1373
