Interested in trail/mountain riding need pointers...
Hi guys.
I'm a total newb to biking. I'd like to start getting into some trail riding and mountain biking. I honestly haven't really rode a bike much for about 15 years.
I've had different types of bikes including my favorite my bianchi road bike(that was stolen), to a specialized mtb(no shocks) as a kid, to currently a haro f-2(which I'm looking to get rid of).
I've done some decent trail riding before on mtb's in algonquin park when I lived in Canada years ago, had a blast, and would love to get back into it.
I've been out of it for so long, and have no friends who bike, so I'm trying to get some info here.
I've been thinking a hardtail with front suspension 26", or even a 29er(1st choice) which would be a great dual purpose.
If you could point me in the right direction I would very much appreciate it!!! I'm about 5'11" 185lbs if that matters.
I feel silly having no idea what I'm looking for but I guess we all have to start somewhere
Brand names, model names, and suggestions will all be very helpful!
Thanks in advance!
-curves(btw the name ilovecurves is from my interest in cars and cornering)

Look at Konas lineup of hardtails, they also have a couple nice 29ers. Niner would be the company to get in touch with for anything and everything 29er related.

Thanks for the links. Both seem to be high quality.
How much would one look to spend building there own bike? I would like to spend less than $1000 at first but I would really like to get a bike that could be upgradable. Maybe start with decent parts and upgrade down the road.
Are there some decent starter bikes for that range, or killer frames with so-so parts to keep costs down initially that are upgradable? I would really love to eventually buy a nice frame and build up my own bike, but figure that's not the way to start.
