Max Weight on VIntage Bikes?

Been browsing bike forums a long time and have finally decided to register and participate - I'm a 57 yr old fat guy retired - Always known as the neighborhood bike fixer to the kids - Whose son recently back from Iraq drug an old 1974 Peugeot out of the bushes and got me back into bikes - I was at one time in 1975 a 23 yr old 157# Class three competitor in Vicenza Italy racing on a shop built Tuto Campangnolo Liotto bicycle for Tratoria Del Folger... Anyway - Memories aside - I have been very reluctant to ride any of the bikes I have recently rebuilt for fear of busting up the frames with my currently 250# weight - I have converted an old FUJI with a Chrome Molly frame to a single speed (not pulling much chain) - Also using strong wheels and clinchers - And it handles the weight well but is heavy - I am finishing out a P-10 rebuild out of 531 and would really like to ride it - Good incentive for me to back off the beer and donuts...

So about what weight will the 531 or Columbus frames handle for bikes built between 70s and 80s???

And - It is a pleasure to be on the forum with people I feel a kinship with...

I'm not sure of how much use this information will be of use to you, but I weigh ~250lbs. I've put a few hundred miles on an '87 panasonic dx4000 which is tange 2 steel, probably closer to a thousand on my fathers '75 (I think) schwinn continental. No problems on either of them.

Oh, I accidentally stumbled into the introductions subforum. this particular section of the site is kinda useless. repost this thread in classic and vintage if you actually want answers to your question.
